'82-1100G-Part numbers for splines?

    '82-1100G-Part numbers for splines?

    No problems now, but just from interest I was looking at the part diagrams on bikebandit for those legendary splines. I couldn't identify them from the illustrations or the parts list.
    (Yes, I've seen them on my bike so don't bother to post your pics.)
    Can you give me the part numbers, and what Suzuki actually names them?

    Bikebandit uses its own fake-o parts numbering system rather than Suzuki part numbers, so perhaps that's the source of the confusion.

    Anyhoo, the splines are located on the rear wheel fiche, and are labeled "JOINT, HUB DRIVEN".

    All earlier part numbers have been superceded to 64680-45113, which is still in use on production bikes (the C/S 50 cruisers, mainly).


    http://alpha-sports.com is handy for seeing the original part number and then the supercession history. http://partshark.com is another handy source for Suzuki part numbers, with more sane pricing. http://www.babbittsonline.com is useful for cross-referencing parts and models.

      Babbitt's used to be a good source for cross-referencing.
      They have changed their format and I have had some difficulty getting through their system now.

      Motogrid has a similar interface that will give you all the bikes on which that particular part is used.

        Got it!

        I see it now, the bikebandit diagram is the same, but it's a bad copy and so the actual splines are not visible. They call it the: JOINT ASSY RR H.

        On the final drive side, does that spline cog also wear out and have to be replaced at the same time? That would seem so.

        Edit: I see that would be the ring gear assembly, costly!

            From what I understand the spline in the rear wheel is the "sacrificial" spline. The drive spline (cog) in the pumpkin is made of a more durable material and should wear very little, if at all.

              + 1, I have had a few rear wheels apart and only seen one drive side with some noticeable wear. I am pretty sure it had been running without the proper lube for a while and the wheel side was down to almost nothing and it only had some oil looking junk mixed in with the metal shavings.

              As far as replacing the ring gear you usually can find the whole drive side fairly cheap on fleabay, they tend to get listed wrong or get included with the complete swingarm for a decent price.
