Valve Check Confirmation

Hello all,
Doing a valve check on a 750 and I thought I would confirm my findings, I'm in the process of ordering shims now.

Here are the readings;
original:
IN S EX S
1 <0.0015 2.95 <0.0015 2.70
2 <0.0015 2.90 <0.0015 2.75
3 <0.0015 2.90 0.0015 2.75
4 0.0015 2.85 <0.0015 2.75

moved around some:
IN S EX S
1 0.0075 2.75 <0.0015 2.90
2 0.0065 2.75 <0.0015 2.90
3 0.0040 2.75 0.0025 2.70
4 <0.0015 2.85 <0.0015 2.95

calculated ideal:
IN S EX S
1 0.0027 2.87 0.0035 2.65
2 0.0025 2.85 0.0035 2.70
3 0.0028 2.78 0.0025 2.70
4 0.0031 2.81 0.0035 2.70
So according to my findings (which mix imperial and metric, i know, blame my feeler set) i need the following shims;
1 x 2.87
1 x 2.78
1 x 2.81
2 x 2.70
1 x 2.65

Looks good to you guys?

Several of those valves have less than measurable clearance and they may need to be stepped down more than one size so you are just guessing on what shims are needed. To do the job right you need a thin checking shim so each valve can have the clearance measured correctly before you can decide what size shims are needed.

As a general rule I like to keep a stock of shims on hand, anticipating the next couple of adjustment swaps. I'd order a few of each size between 2.60 to 2.75, plus you may need a couple of oddballs such as a 2.80.

Z1 Enterprises sells shims for about $5 each so it's best to just stock up.
