Some of the factory service manuals list what I think is a ridicules amount of clearance within the "service limit".
According to that photo above the exhaust OE clearance is .0026" max., but the service limit is .014" - more than 5x as much? I don't think so.
The GS1000 and GS850 manuals list the service limit for the exhaust valve to guide clearance at .0039", but I've seen some GS550 and GS750 manuals listing .014" too so I think there might be some typos in the service manuals.
In my opinion, the .0039" service limit makes sense considering the OE clearance. That's just me though. Do what you think is right.Ed
