    Engine swap 1982 750 to 82 1100 question

Hi folks, in my 82 750 engine needs quite a bit of TLC, broken bolt in the head deep inside, valve cover has stripped screws and leaking oil, also there is a 9mm nut somewhere inside the engine so for me to make it reliable again it will need to be split open and rebuilt, my problem is paying 150 bucks just for gaskets when i can get a running 1100 motor for about the same, obviously you never know what actual condition it is in but if it holds oil and spins freely im sure it will be easier to work on that one than my original one.
Now i searched thru previous swaps and going from 16v to 16v seems to be a straight swap or do i need to fabricate new mounts? Also will my headers fit i have an old 4-1 supertrapp?

    typo the 1100 motor 1981 not 1982

1100/1150 engine is a straight bolt in except for the bottom center triangles.
you can fabricate(offset flat triangles)/purchase/or just leave them off.
bandit 1200's didn't even use these mounts so you'll be ok without them.

Yes, the swap is easy, my 4-1 V&H pipe was a direct swap exact same part# as well. The electrical connections are mostly all the same. Your 80-81 1100 might not have the gear indicator plugin I dont know my 1100 was an '82 and it was plug and play. Also the earlier 1100 I dont think have the oil temp sensor.

keep in mind that a GS1000 8 valve chain drive is a 90% bolt in.
these are cheeeeeep if you look around.
not as much power as the 1100/1150 but no more bearing worries.

GS1000 has no rockers to wear out. You can use the oil pressure/temp sending units cover off your old motor on the 1000. Gear position sending units from 2-valve GS750 bolt right on to the 1000 motor also.

Worst case you can check out the replacement OE gasket thread. Name your price and the guy will try and meet it. As far as I know it comes with all replacement gaskets, HG, valve cover, stator.. etc.
