          14k? and extra noises... ouch..

          I would at least check the compression, and do a leakdown to make sure some of the valves are not bent.

            On the 2-valve Suzuki's the valves can tag each other if over reved.

                I pinned the tach on my 4 valve '82 750 plain bearing engine a few times, nary a hiccup.
                I bought a Dynatec rev limiter for it so I dont have to worry about that anymore.
