    Engine Mount Bolt

Yesterday I removed the top rear engine mount bolt to replace the loose and rattling spacer. When I went to reinstall the bolt, I encountered this problem:

The bolt is now somehow off center as though the engine or frame moved since last night. Any suggestions as to which other mount bolt I can loosen or a better way to move the engine back enough to slide back into the hole? I tried to use a breaker bar down next through the rear side (seat side) of the frame but I can not get enough leverage to move it correctly.

    Thanks.

I had a similar issue with mine when I was putting it back into the frame where I managed to strip one of the threads in the left mounting bracket.

I tightened everything up except the front ones and after I fixed the thread I couldn't get the front to line up. The engine also seemed to be tilting to the left a touch also.

The only way I could get it right was to put a jack underneath the sump with a lump of wood on it to protect the sump, then loosen all the engine mounts.

I was then able to use the jack to lift it up slightly and level it off while getting the front mounts on and tightening them all back up again.

Another tip I got was to use a straight edge to make sure the front and rear sprockets line up correctly. That was to address the issue where mine was tilted slightly.

Thanks Pete. Got it worked finally by loosening the front and going from there. I appreciate it.

Once I got it in, I realized the new spacer was still too loose and too short. Took it back out, went back to Ace, got the right one plus a thinner one to add to it, but still had to do it two more times as I forgot to put one washer back on. Then I realized the board I used under my center stand moved and while I was trying to put it back the bike fell off the bottle jack I used. Fortunately nothing broke because my stepdaughter and I caught it but I have a couple of good scraped hands/arms.

At least it's in and I can keep moving from here.
