    Engine Swap

is it possible to swap the shaft drive engine on the gs 850 for something not shaft? like a 750 engine

If so what are the steps you have to follow?

Don't know for sure but to go from shafty to chain you'd have to replace the swingarm and also rear wheel at a minimum. Prolly not worth the effort.
Someone with more knowledge than me will have better information....

      Step 1.

Look at craigslist and or ebay and purchase a non shaft bike.

Really though, I can't see the value in even trying to swap.. there are so many components that are different, it doesn't seem like it would be cost effective.

Not feasible to do . Cheaper to just buy another bike

a whole lot to swap over. Not impossible. but very time consuming and potentially expensive.
You may as well rebuild your 850 shaftie taking the same amount of time(maybe...maybe not) and making a rock solid reliable bike that you know works.
Im sure you can find resources for parts all over this forum.
