    Oil Pressure

According to my Clymer manuals the oil pressure on my 80 GS1100 16v should be between 1.4 and 7.1 psi at 3k rpm. On my 79 GS750 8v it is 43 -78 psi. Why such a huge difference between the 2 and should the 1100 be higher?

The '79 750 has roller bearings just like the 1100, low oil pressure is OK there too. The high pressure is for the plain bearing engines, like the 1980 750.

Should I be using different manuals? Which ones?

Something is wrong for you to see those kinds of oil pressure in a 1979 GS 850; the roller bearing bikes (pre-1980) have a low pressure system, like 3-7 ps ( low reading is idle, high is at rpms). When Renobruce was looking for gauges for his pressure gauge kits, even a 15 psi range gauge is a little high,
