    measuring valve clearance question?

hi i just wanted to know when you measure valve clearances which way is best for cam lobe to be pointing to get best measurment?the service manual says there are only two positions to measure clearence pointing strait up away from intake or exaust valve or pointing even with head on intake and exhaust valves.which position do you guys use when ckecking clearances and do you get different readings when checking them in either of these positions?thanks and have a good day

What bike is it? Post the info in your signature
If it's no different than mine, Exhaust lobes should point forward parallel to the head, and intake lobes should point up perpendicular to the head.

      Hi,

Valve adjustment procedures are well documented on my website, for both the 8 valve and 16 valve engines.

      Thank you for your indulgence,

Yes, tons of info at Cliff's site, and here in the archives.

To search the archives I suggest the following...

Click "Search" above and navigate to "Advanced Search"

Type your search term such as "valve adjust"

        Click Titles Only

        Click Search
