    Gasket Set

I'm going to need a gasket set for my 82 GS1100E.

Does anybody know if there is a OEM part number for the whole set or do I need to track down each gasket and part number?

Does the gasket kit come with valve seals or the half moon gaskets near the cam ends?

From what I have read I take it I should stick with OEM .... comments?

    # 9 on the fisch.

I've had good luck with Cometic case gasket set ($13)which will cover all the lower half gaskets, then hunt ebay for oem gaskets for the top (cylinder, head).

Depending if you like to gamble, you could get lucky with an athena set and swap in a couple key oem gaskets.

For the misc rubber/plastic seals etc get oem (although I used the Ape valve stem seals with good results).

$220 for the OEM set from G&S Suzuki. Doesn't seem like a bad price if All the gaskets and bits are included, considering Athena/Vesrah are easily into the $150 range. Might contact them and verify what exactly is included in the package.

The OEM gasket kit is, unquestionably, the best deal. It will include EVERYTHING but the shaft seals -- every last gasket, washer, and o-ring needed. And everything will be excellent quality.

The "complete" kits from Athena and Vesrah are missing everything except the major gaskets and they are made from low-rent garbage. The Vesrah case cover gaskets are somewhat usable, but the head and base gaskets are very iffy.

I've had very poor experiences with Cometic gaskets as well, but this was for my GS850. Perhaps they sell enough 1100E gaskets that they actually pay attention to these. I just received a couple of Cometic case gaskets for my KLR650 from Schnitz. I think they'll work OK, but they look like they were hacked out with a dull razor by a 1st-grader. I think Cometic has been slacking off lately...

If you have time it dosent hurt to hunt Ebay for OEM gaskets..

I got a pair of GS1000 head gaskets for $20 each.. They were listed as base gaskets but the pics and part numbers told the truth..

I just made up a list of all the gaskets with PN's I wanted and have been checking them off as I find em.
