where to find shifter shaft seal besides dealer?

Hi,
i am looking for a website to find a shifter shaft seal for my 82 gs650, i have looked at a few places but cant really find them. So if anyone knows a place please post it for me.

The usual places you get OEM parts -- shipping will cost more than the seal.

If you happen to live in a major city or have an industrial supply place around, you might also take some accurate measurements in MM and see if you can obtain a metric seal.

A bearing house will generaly have or be willing to order any O-Ring or seal you want, but it is easier to order the correct part from a specialist like Part Shark or Bike Bandit. I have ordered Suzuki wheel bearings from an industrial bearing supply when I needed some after an accident.

It should be noted that even an engineering powerhouse like Honda or Suzuki is going to design around existing bearings O-Rings, and seals for the most part. There is no reason for them to design one and have to have it.

According to the GS1000G parts list, the seal is 12x22x9, or 22mm OD, 12mm ID, and 9mm thick, if I read it correctly. the part number is 09285-12006. I would be a bit surprized if yours is different.

ok thanks i havent came across parts shark yet so i will look, there is a suzuki dealer somewhat close but by the time i get off work and get down there there are about closed and i usually work saturdays so online might be best for me.

The thickness on this one is different, which doesn't really matter. You can find all sorts of useful stuff at McMAster-Carr.

Personally, I'd just order the correct one from wherever you get Suzuki parts.
