    Front Sprocket Spacers, GS1100EZ

I figure that this is a drivetrain related question.

And this is a question for my 1982 GS1100EZ engine. I am currently in the market for new sprockets and a new chain. But I ran into a little problem. Read below.

    I'm pretty sure that it's missing a spacer. Here's what I have.

This the front sprocket's drive shaft with everything taken off of it.

This spacer was in there first.

The above spacer put on the drive shaft.

    This washer goes in next.

    Then the sprocket next.

And finally the nut. I do realize that the locking tab washer is missing.

Now, why is there so much space in between here? I can move the sprocket like 0.5" on the drive shaft.

Does anyone have a spacer that I need for me? I checked the parts fische on Babbitt's but couldn't seem to find a fische for the front sprocket area......

Hey FC, front sprocket is under transmission; it almost looks like you are missing something off that sprocket but someone more knowledgeable than me will know better:

Thank you Cowboy! Why did I not look in transmission?

So anyways, according to the parts fische, the washer goes in first then the spacer. I will try that out first.

By the way, my engine is from a 1982 GS1100EZ, not a 1983 GS1100ED . It's basically the same thing but you know....

That's the 82 fiche; looking at the site, it's just that one fiche for the tranny while the rest is broken up. Seems as though the tranny is the same across the board. Got it from my parts house - www.apexsportsinc.com

          Oh. OK

So, it does look like I have all of the pieces except for part number 48 and 49. I'll get those ordered later.

The only thing I see wrong is that I put part number 46 first then 40 after when it should be the other way around. Hey, that's how I got it . But part number 46 fits so well in there!

I will try switching them around and post the results.

The big washer did not go in all the way on the drive shaft. Now what? I need you 1100E guys!

I also found out that I have a 530 front sprocket and a 630 chain and rear sprocket.

Smaller 530 front sprocket would require a spacer

Right. I have all of the spacers so maybe I should just try buying a 630 15 teeth sprocket?

I'll send you one if you pay for the shipping.
I have a bunch of 15T Suzuki sprokets for 630 chains.

I'm not 100% sure but I believe you have the wrong "nut engine sprocket" i.e. part #47.
On my GS 1100 Katana this nut appears countersunk in order to hold the sprocket tight.
I'll get you a picture later on if needed.

I think I have this figured out now.

Part number 46 is correctly placed. That big washer should not be there. A 630 sprocket is bigger than a 530 sprocket. And the nut has been cut in half.

So.... I will need a 630 sprocket, that little o-ring, lock washer, and nut.

which chain do you have 530 or 630 also which sprocket is on the back? i dont think you can run a 630 front sprocket with 530 chain? when people do a 530 conversion you generally need another spacer like this one
