What will fit in a 81 gs 850

I have a 81 850 shaft drive basket case. That needs new piston rings and who knows what else. I would like to put a running 750 0r 1100 in, so I can buy parts easier and not sink a lot of money into a engine that may not run. Does anyone know where I can find information on what would work without modifying (i.e. electrical, engine mounts)?

    The 850s are awesome engines.
I'd get another one of those if you can.
They do make 1100 shafties and I'm sure you could find a way to squeeze it into the frame.
The 750s were all chain drive to my knowledge.

If you don't want to fix the 850 ? Look for a GS1000G or GS1100G Motor. Pretty much a bolt in.. 750 is chain drive unless you have a Japan version GS750 Made one year and very rare

Thanks for the help guys I like the 850 but with the rarity of the parts and not knowing what I might have(don't want to do a whole engine rebuild). I think i will try to find a 1000 or 1100
