Jrwinder635 I hope you followed the Z1 guides I sent you. I had a senior moment and posted 106 links instead of 116. I'm going to change that so no one orders a short chain.http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum...ine=1440711157'78 GS1000E, Dyna-S ignition, Dyna Green Coils, K&N pods, Delkevic SS 4-1 exhaust, Dynojet Stage 3 jet kit, Russell SS Brake Lines, Progressive suspension, Compu-Fire series Regulator 55402 and Advmonster cree LED headlight conversion.

Does sound like a chain problem, you can get that noise from a chain adjusted too tightly. Should have about .8 inch play minimum from between the two sprockets. I'd put it on the centerstand and check it and also looking for binding, stiff links, misalignment, lack of lubrication, worn out sprockets, chain. Rotate the wheel and see if the chains tightens and loosens as it's being rotated, worn out sprockets will sometimes cause that.sigpic

Ive got about an inch of play, freshly lubricated and a chain and sprockets that are in really good shape. I might just be Paranoid. I plan on buying a 530 116 link this fall. I'm going to ride it until the seasons out and work on it then. I had the bike worked on twice by a professional and he said it's just a tiny bit of spacing problems but totally ridable.

I did my 530 conversion. There is definitely a muted wine and it seems to be normal. I know that the chain is aligned and adjusted properly. I think you are just hearing the front sprocket. I notice it most in fifth gear, barely audible over wind noise.http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum...ine=1440711157'78 GS1000E, Dyna-S ignition, Dyna Green Coils, K&N pods, Delkevic SS 4-1 exhaust, Dynojet Stage 3 jet kit, Russell SS Brake Lines, Progressive suspension, Compu-Fire series Regulator 55402 and Advmonster cree LED headlight conversion.

Yes the noise is most heard in 5th gear. If I put it up on a stand, and watch the front sprocket, nothing seems to be rubbing anywhere. It might just be the nature of the beast. I'm going to change the chain and sprockets this winter just to be safe
