Gaskets for Rebuild

Hey first time poster long time lurker(well a month or so). I'm just wondering if someone can let me know if I've over looked any gaskets needed for a top end rebuild. I picked up a 78 GS550 a couple weeks ago and once I got it home noticed that plug 3 was snapped off below the nut so I've been fighting with it and have decided that it'd be best to just pull the head and be done with it.

I know I'll need the following gaskets head, valve/cam cover, timing chain o ring, do I need to replace the exhaust, cam end cover or are there any others seals I've overlooked?

This is the first bike I've owned/worked on but do have some mechanical knowledge and with this place feel that this will be completed. I've already got a second bike lined up to a 73 GT550 2 stroke triple woo

Base gasket, head gasket, cam chain gasket and valve cover gasket.
Adjust the valves when you put it back together. You have a shim style head so if you don't have clearance you have to put in a smaller shim.

Oblong O-rings on the base gasket, cam chain tensioner gasket, valve stem seals, consider piston rings

Yea I was hoping not to actually pull the cylinders just down to the head and keep the rings but I'll look at them when I've got it apart.

Honest, when you pop the head off, the base gasket will pop on it's own, so that will need doing...while the barrels are off, rings are easy, a light hone on the barrels, valve seals, and back together. Like a new engine...

Thanks Running Dog I'd seen posts that said guys had to fight to get the barrels loose but it could go either way. Looking to start the tear down this weekend will get a gasket kit ordered soon. Wooo it will be just like new
