    weird knocking under load

my gs700 has developed a knocking sound when I put it under load (1/4 throttle) I have checked my valves 3 times just to be sure. If anybody has any clues that would be great, thanks.

could it be pre-ignition or detonation?? poor gasoline quality and too much ignition advance are a common cause of both. try checking your ignition timing to make sure its not too far advanced and next time you fill up go for the supreme and see what it does.

his ignition is pre set and non adjustable unless he's installed a dyna S.
lets hope its not a rod bearing
have you had gas in your oil at any time from a leaking fuel valve or any other contamination that your aware of?

Hopefully you just need to sync your carbs.

No gas in oil ever. When I first got the bike last year, previous owner had been using synthetic 5/30 weight. I cleaned it all out, changed the clutch plates, and have been running Rotella oil since.

As Chef said..check the crab syncs. Are all the fuel screws at the proper settings?

I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.
