    GS1000 motor

    motor number.......................GS1000-113784
    how do i find out what year it is?
    cant read the marker on the motor other than its a gs1000 and mebbe an "L" model?

    It's a '78:

    79 GS1000S
    79 GS1000S (another one)
    80 GSX750
    80 GS550
    80 CB650 cafe racer
    75 PC50 - the one with OHV and pedals...
    75 TS100 - being ridden (suicidally) by my father

        All the GS1000 covers fit, regardless of year or whether they were and E or L model. The only thing to note is that from 1980 onwards the cylinder heads were different to the 1979 and earlier bikes plus some of the shaft drive stuff won't fit either (again, 1980 onwards)

          Yes, lots of different GS bikes share parts. For example, the ignition cover was shared between the 750, 850, 1000, 1100G (shaft drive), and the stator cover also covered a bunch of different years.
