    Cam Chain Noise

The noise is like a whirr.... almost like BB's in a tin can. I am sure that it is the cam chain rubbing on the upper most cover. I took the cover off yesterday to reveal an area on the cover that has wear from the chain running across it. What would cause the chain to reach the case? I rebuild the tensioner over winter last year and it never made a difference. The chain doesnt really appear to be worn. Could it be a bad chain and sprockets?

I just dont want to replace a bunch of parts and find out that it was something totally different causing this.

    Any ideas are greatly appreciated!

    Thanks Guys!

Sounds like the tensioner is not working properly. First thing is to make sure the plunger is released and free to move. Maybe you didn't wind the spring tight enough when you rebuilt the tensioner?
