    Shifter shaft seal r&r question

Has anyone ever replaced the shifter seal without spiltting the cases and, if so, how? I did a search on the forum and was surprised I didn't find any info. What I did find was several who confused the shifter shaft with the clutch actuation shaft. The seal that I need to replace on my 1100G is the one that the shifter shaft passes through on the left side of the engine as viewed from above.
    Thanks in advance.

Common sense has become so uncommon that I consider it a super power.

No need to split the cases. This is straight off BassCliff's site under "Engine Odds and Ends": http://members.dslextreme.com/users/...-ends.html#A07 , Shifter Seal Replacement.

The shifter shaft typically pulls out though the clutch cavity. Worst case, pull it out that way and replace the seal.

No need to pull the shifter shaft to do the change. Just make sure you CLEAN everything well & grease the new seal inside & out befor you install it. I do it all the time. Ray.
