    Clutch similarities ?

Are the '83 GS1100E and '84 GS1150 clutch designs similar?

    thanks

They are similar, but different in at least the number and type of drive plates, the '84 has the same plates as the '80-'82 clutches (I believe these to be the fiber plates), in '83 they used an extra drive and driven
plate and the fiber plates were different. I've read where after problems
with the '83 clutch they went back to the '80-'82 clutch in '84, mainly because the '83 fiber plates were a harder metal than the aluminum fiber plates and cut groves into the clutch basket.
I'm sure more readers will pile on with better specifics, but that at least
    is a start.

83 clutch packs are all by there self but.
      as was said above...
      80-82 1100/84-86 1150 used the same packs.
not to confuse anybody but...1000/1100 shafty's used the same common clutch pack also.
