Does anyone know what is involved with mounting a '84 GS1150 engine into a '83 GS1100E frame?Tags: None

1985 GS1150ES stock with 85 Red E bodywork.

The 1150 motor will bolt right in, it is a direct fit. You can even use the 1100 exhaust if you want. But you will find that the 1100 uses a cable driven Tachometer and the 1150 uses a electronic tach. your tachometer will no longer work with this motor and your stock guages

You'll find the bike vibrates more than the 1100 with stock front engine mounting plates.
I had a machine shop graft on the rubber dampers from the 1150 onto the front engine mounting plates. Seemed to quell the buzz a bit.GS\'s since 1982: 55OMZ, 550ES, 750ET, (2) 1100ET\'s, 1100S, 1150ES. Current ride is an 83 Katana. Wifes bike is an 84 GS 1150ES
