HELP PLEASE, What is this part??? (pics)
after disassembling the motor I found this small part on the bench where i was working. What is this? I believe it has something to do with the clutch push rod but am not sure.

I agree, but whats happend to the spring and lockbolt?. Swept up the workshop of late?, maybe OOPS.My bikes 79 GS1000 1085 checked and approved by stator the GSR mascot :eagerness: and 77 GS750 with 850 top end, GS850g, and my eldest sons 78 GS550, youngest sons GS125. Project bike 79 GS1000N

Rob, that part is indeed the neutral detent part.
See picture below for all the parts you need for reassembly.
Also Rob just to make sure you know where the hex headed bolt, spring and detent go on the engine; it goes on the top crankcase half under where the carbs would sit. It can be seen at the lower right of this picture.
