Will that scratch hone out or is it too deep? Maybe worth trying and measuring if you're on a tight budget.

I would check out the price of oversize pistons and rings. Over here fitting a Wiseco kit is by far the cheapest way to go.

Yes Chef I don't see any oversize rings either. Damm.
Hampshire how big could I hone too? Bores are 74mm right now.
I have done 50 up/down strokes on each cylinder so far with a 240 grit hone.

If you have a manual find out the specs for your cylinders.
If you know a good machinest get him to measure them for you if you don't know how (you need a special tool)
If you don't have a manual ask rapidray.1983 GS 1100E w/ 1230 kit, .340 lift Web Cams, Ape heavy duty valve springs, 83 1100 head with 1.5mm oversized SS intake valves, 1150 crank, Vance and Hines 1150 SuperHub, Star Racing high volume oil pump gears, 36mm carebs Dynojet stage 3 jet kit, Posplayr's SSPB, Progressive rear shocks and fork springs, Dyna 2000, Dynatek green coils and Vance & Hines 4-1 exhaust.

Thanks Chef will do.
I do have bore micrometers but not that big.
Will look up the specs, I'm hoping I can open them up a little bit.

Not going to work. the scratch is too deep. Service limit on the cylinder is 74.08
Now I will have to try and find a good cylinder with stock bores.
The hunt begins!! lol
Cheers Guys

Looks like all the pistons and rings are discontinued other than the STD rings.
Just in case you didn't know, you can't use OS rings on a STD piston.Ed

I didn't know that, thanks for the tip.
I'm hoping to find a stock cylinder so then I can order std rings.
Don't have enough funds to do a rebore and piston kit.

Just an update guys.
Finally received my gaskets and bearings from Suzuki.
I also got a Vesrah gasket set cheap for case covers etc.
I did notice in the Vesrah set the base gasket is steel and is an exact copy of the oem one. I was expecting the cheap paper ones. I guess you never know what you get. On the base gasket do you guys put any sealant on it. When I removed the old one it had left a silver residue behind which I had to clean off with scotchbrite and acetone?
Cheers
Paul
