    Run without idle gear?

I did my stator on my 79 GS550 yesterday, and didn't notice until this morning that I didn't install the idle gear or the 2 washers. I did put the pin back in that they sit on. I haven't ran the bike yet but is it safe to? I haven't even used the starter in like 2 months since it kicks over on 1 kick every time...

Will I do any damage to anything by running without the idle gear? It's part #1 on this fiche:

No problem running without it, just don't expect to use the electric starter.

    (Apparently, you already don't. )

As Steve says, it'll be fine. Now time to save some more weight and pull all that unwanted stuff off.
