    Hot Tanking

A local machine shop has a hot tank for aluminum engine parts.

Is it a good thing to do?

Is it effective? Any dangers doing this?

    Feedback Welcome.

    Cheers

Even the aluminum "safe" stuff in my experience will pit if left in too long.

Would go for an hour or two max.

Careful, many shops use a caustic solution in the tank that will eat aluminum or any soft metal in a hurry. FYI

Some of the "Hot Tanks" are merely a giant dish washer that sprays concentrated soap and boiling hot water at the contents.
        They work FANTASTIC!
