    85 GS700ES parts suppliers

    HI,
New here and looking for parts suppliers. Have my friends above mentioned bike in garage with comp test in the 70-85 lbs range...has low 30k mileage on it....time for a teardown, but having trouble finding parts.....i have quite a bit of experience with the old kawasakis, but none with chasing down parts for a bike that was only made for about 2 years with limited production numbers...thanks in advance for any leads and help.......

Did you adjust the valves before the compression check? Was the engine fully warmed up and was the throttle held wide open? These things are critical otherwise the compression test will show low numbers. Also, if the bike has sat for some time the compression test can read low. The bike need a several hundred miles to shake out the cobwebs if it has sat for a while. 30k miles is nothing for a GS, these bikes typically run several times that much with nothing more than routine maintenance.

Lastly, Suzuki parts are sold at dealership sources. Tons of places including Part Shark and Boulevard Suzuki.

      thanks!!!

problem is motor wont start.....carbs were redone twice and fuel is confirmed to be in bowls....wont pull into motor.....cranks with crappy spark, but spark nontheless....wont fart , hicuup or anything...pull plugs ...no smell of gas whatsoever.......has k and n pods on it....bike ran decent when parked...valves have not been adjusted......one would think there would be a least the slightest stink of gas even with valves out...no?.......this thing does nothing....thanks....ps....throttle wide open and let it crank untill needle stopped climbing....5-6 sceonds per cylinder

Parts for the 700's are not hard to find and many of the 83 750E's ES are interchangeable. I watch Ebay on a regular basis and had no issues finding parts for my build..here is a pic of mine...

          Weak spark?
The dread voltage loss due to corrosion in connections?

I know people hate me but why not a shot of ether.
One wee blast and you can see if everything is working OK aside from the fuel weak spark issue.

It takes very little to light ether.

Yup ether. Just the regular not the luminiferous.

Have you checked the voltage on the battery?

Were the carbs rejetted to work with the pods. If not, the mixture will be WAY off.

i do know my friend ordered the jet kit and had some drilling to do......i believe he should be in the ballpark as far as cleanliness and jetting...i dont have a lot of experience with constant velocity carbs..i can rebuild vm series with the old style slides with my eyes closed, but i m not a big fan of diaprham carbs which i dont believe to be leaps and bounds better than the old school.....

i m just drawing a blank on why i cant even get a fart or backfire on re-built carbs and some spark......we should be at least getting something.....
