What is the optimum route to rebuilding/replacing/modifying the starter clutch? I have read through the various threads, and am uncertain whether the bolts rattled loose, sheared off or what happened...but I will be disassembling the rotor/starter clutch and looking for the proper parts to make it right...the starter clutch casing is no good anymore from initial look inside stator cover.

1150 Starter Clutch Question
This bike is making me work for it. I completed the charging system upgrade, works great. Rebuilt and re-jetted the carbs, runs great. Put the bike back together and went to fire it up one last time to verify that the final assembly was good and "whing-a-ding-ding-ding" the starter clutch is no longer attached to the rotor.

Did not Kick Back
I think it is a good idea to set up the delay for starting the bike, or timing retard... but this did not happen because of it kicking back, most likely from (previous) wear on the clutch internals. With the engine running at a low idle, the clutch would rattle bad. It may be that it has been kicked in the teeth before, as I have only had this bike for a short time. I will be looking for a Rotor Removal Tool, and tearing it apart for a proper look at what happened.1982 GSX1000SZ
