Oil Leak from Shifter
Hey all, I had a minor leak coming out of the clutch housing where the shifter enters that has now become a waterfall. Before I take it apart do you know what is causing it? Is there a part or seal I can get beforehand to knock this problem out quicker?Tags: None

No, no. First, that is the sprocket cover, not the clutch cover. Second, you can do it on the bike.
Remove shifter, footpeg and sprocket cover. This will expose the seal where the shifter shaft enters the cases.
Remove the circlip and washer. Now you can see the seal itself. To remove the seal, insert a couple of small screws. Now grab the screws with pairs of pliers and pull like heck. It should come out without any issues. (Sometimes there is a metal lip that the screws will hit and force the seal out, but I can't tell on this engine.)
To insert the new seal, put the new seal on the shifter shaft and the old seal outside of it. Tap on the old seal, keeping the new seal lined up correctly. You don't want to install the old seal crooked, it will still leak. And you really don't want to hit the new seal itself if you can help it.
And you don't need to drain the oil.
