RHS of engine, what is this for?

I know this may sound daft but what is this bolt head/plug for marked up in photo?(the fiche is not to good in this area) Can I remove/replace it for cleaning/polishing before I soda blast the engine.

    Cheers

That's the oil gallery plug and it's job is just that - to plug the oil gallery (??). You can pull it off if you want but make sure you plug the hole well when you're blasting as that's a direct entry in to your oil system.

I was planning on removing it and cleaning it up and replacing it before I soda blast....soda only gets so much off and the plug appears to be pretty rusty
Thanks for the info, I can now remove it without worrying something might fly out after it...lol
