I'm feeling your pain right about now... Some of it came off in nice big pieces, but a lot of it just left these sticky little chunks in hard to reach areas

But it is coming along... Slowly but surely. I'm just glad it's raining today, because it means I'm not missing a day of riding.

Stuff rags in the cam chain tunnel to prevent anything from dropping in there.

I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.

Once the bulk of the gasket is off try a fine whet stone keeping the stone wet with solvent.

          aircraft remover.

just spray it on a shop towel, then dab it on the gasket.
          Watch out for paint, obviously.

I don't know what aircraft remover is ... can you provide a link for me?

A cheese grater does not work well.

I find working on my motorcycle mildly therapeutic when I'm not cursing.

The worst for me was when I did the top-end and had to replace the base gasket. It felt like it would never end with scraping and sanding around the studs.

Aircraft remover is a type/brand of paint stripper. Supposed to work well on old gaskets.
