77gs750 clutch issue
went for a ride today and noticed my clutch coming out of adjustment and bike would not find neutral unless i shut it off, i adjusted the lever to spec about 4 mill of play and it was smooth, 47 miles of stop and go later i couldn't find neutral again and my lever had way to much play so i adjusted it again. when i got the bike running i did the push rod adjustment at the pushrod screw and locknut with my lever adjustment bottomed out at the perch now i have my adjustment screw on the perch sticking out 3/4of a inch not sure if its time for a clutch or cable i have oiled the cable several times but the bike was sitting for 15 years and i have alot of bugs to work out any suggestions?Tags: None

Any 15 year old cable that has just sat is rusty thru and thru probably..Shes strtetching and getting ready to snap. Replace it while its still at home.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)
1978 GS 1000 E, 1979 GS 1000 S, 1973 Yamaha TX 750, 1977 Kawasaki KZ 650B1, 1975 Honda GL1000 Goldwing, 1983 CB 650SC Nighthawk, 1972 Honda CB 350K4, 74 Honda CB550
NEVER SNEAK UP ON A SLEEPING DOG..NOT EVEN YOUR OWN.
I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.

Start with a new cable.
Set your clearances at the push rod first.
Finish up with a "fine tuning" at the lever.

checking to see if you ever got your clutch fixed yet? I have the same problem. Replaced everything and still have the problem.
