    Clutch sleeve hub nut.

Okay, so the other day I replaced my clutch springs and took out my discs to check for wear. I noticed that the hub nut was not tight, but that the metal washer was bent so that it would not really turn. Because of this I thought it was supposed to be like that. I reassembled it. I have driven the bike for 200miles since and the clutch is engaging as it should.

The only two concerns I have are:
Today I opened the oil cap to add oil with the engine running, and i heard clanking coming from the clutch compartment.

At 4000rpm, there is a strange vibration coming from the engine, I chalked it up to being the natural frequency of the engine, so I don't ride at that rpm.

The manual says 36-50lbs of torque, which tells me that this thing should have no play at all.

    Thoughts?

(This is a 1982 gs1100L with 31k) All engine related maintenance has been finished.

The nut often comes loose on GS bikes. Some people (like me) use the GS1150 nut because it's stronger and (I'm told) isn't so prone to loosening. I also used thread-lock on it just to be safe.

The stockers are soft and the threads can let them come loose.
