I think I have some white smoke coming out of the head gasket

After letting the bike warm up and get hot Im getting some white smoke from somewhere on the front of the engine. Its hard to pin point where its coming from but I think its the head gasket. Is this possible?

It seems to be seeping a little oil which is what makes me believe the smoke could be coming out from there but again I am not sure.

Quite some time ago I sprayed down the bolts to the exhaust with some MP-50 so they would come out with out problem so its possible this is still burning off. I did spayed down the front of the engine with hexane though to clean all that off.

Should I just keep running it and see if the smoke gets worse, stays the same or goes away? Id just like to get these problems taken care of quick before they cause some real damage to the bike.

Possibly and exhaust leak at one of the headers? Or maybe the oil leak is dripping on the exhaust and burning off?

Only 2 I can think of off hand. Did you recently remove the exhaust and not replace the gaskets that go into the head? They are one time use only.

Maybe a pic of the engine area would help here. Can you see where exactly the smoke is originating?

what do the gaskets that go into the head look like? I wonder if the PO removed the exhaust and never replaced those as I didnt see anything gasket like when I removed/replace the exhaust.

I wonder if thats causing my idle issue as well. . .

no I can not tell where the smoke is originating. I tried to get a video of the smoke but the phone couldnt really pick it up. Ill see if I can do better today at pin pointing it and getting some video.

I dont think its leaking enough oil to have it drip down on the exhaust. its more weeping out than anything but I could have missed something

      Edit: found them: http://www.bikebandit.com/k-l-exhaust-gaskets?m=21374

cant say I remember seeing those on it. Guess Ill have to remove the exhaust and check then. I do remember that on the two inner pipes, there were two half circle metal something or others on each pipe that I assumed was some form of gasket. Ill see if I have pictures.

Exhaust gaskets that go in the head look like this, http://www.z1enterprises.com/Exhaust...1150-1596.aspx

I just mentioned that due to you saying you soaked the header bolts for easy removal and thought you may have taken off the exhaust recently.

They are a bugger to get out of the head too. And sometimes don't look like they are there. To remove mine I used a small flat blade screwdriver and tapped with a hammer to put a slot in it and used some needle nose vise grips to pull it out. They are a crush type gasket.

Those half circle pieces are what hold the exhaust to the head, they are not needed on 1 and 4 because they are molded into the header. You cannot remove the collars on 1 and 4.
