    At base of clutch assembly , there is oil pump drive gear with two tabs to engage clutch plate- make sure they are facing right direction.
    But I thought you said tightenning the cam caps cause binding- is that problem solved?

      yes i seem to have solved the binding problem that the cam caps were causing, now the problem appears to have moved to the clutch assembly, it all spins and works fine until i install the clutch plates and now once again the motor is binding when i turn it over
