    Crazy negative compression cam?

I ebay'd a used head that came complete. (Cams, buckets, shims, everything.) After cleaning it up and installing it I got vacuum instead of compression! I was perfect on the timing marks, but no compression. It was driving me nuts.

Then I decided to compare the new cams with the old and here is what I found

Bad new is on the left. The gear with the timing mark was 180 degrees off.

Ever seen such a thing before?

Are you sure that the head that you bought had the cam sprockets on the proper cams? or was it just installed 180 out?

It didn't come from Suzuki that way. That would be the P.O.

Yeah, I think that you're right. The bolts that held the gear on were loose. I have no idea why anyone would take that off, though.

          Cam sprockets are off 180.
          Just switch them around.

It would've been funny if it weren't so much extra work!
