    service bulletins

I was searching for some info on the oil pressure relief valve mod for 80-82
GS750 and could not find a service bulletin for that mod. I did find a great site for service bulletins for a lot of GS models.

I don't know if it is all bulletins ever issued, but there is some excellent info on grooved and non-grooved bearing inserts for 80-82 GS750s.

If I am reading these correctly, by 82 they had solved some of the oiling issues by using grooved, copper based bearing inserts, and the addition of a crankshaft thrust bearing.

Everyone should check out this site, there are bulletins for a lot of our bikes listed. If this info is in previous posts, I apologize, I didn't find it in a search.

      Nice find.

To the best of my knowledge, the bulletin put out by Suzuki NZ was New Zealand only. We're noted as a nation for the "number 8 wire" type of solution to problems and slipping a couple of spring washers into the relief valve to raise oil pressure is typical of this...but it worked at the time.

Interesting about the grooved bearing shells. i remember at least one of the motors I rebuilt having shells with no grooves but I'm pretty sure all the replacement undersize shells came grooved.

It was your posts that got me started on my quest. I believe I will do the mod. You know the factory manual says you should pull the pan to clean it and the pickup screen every 6000 miles. How many owners do you think did that? My guess is not very many. They also recommend oil changes every 4000, but that seems like a long interval to me, I'll do it every 2000. Hopefully with zealous preventative maintenance I can avoid any oil related failure.

subid, did you ever perform the mode and added the washer to the pressure relief spring?
