Jumping out of gear
I am still looking at a '84 GS1150 but now the owner fessed up that the bike will routinely jump out of 2nd gear.

Dogs are worn.
You have two options. Have the dogs re-cut or buy a decent used transmission and swap it in.
Both involve removing the motor and splitting the cases. Not really difficult, but somewhat intimidating the first time.
On my 1100E, I went with the used transmission.
