    Clymer manual misprint re; 850 ring end gap???

    Can someone help me with understanding the spec's I got from a Clymer manual? The piston ring end gap is supposed to be;
    • Piston ring end gap 1st/2nd 0.1-0.3 or 0.004-0.012
    • The limit is 0.7 or 0.03

    My ring end gap is right at .012 why is the limit spec smaller than standard limit?

    Because you are not seeing all the zeros.

    Assuming those measurements are metric and inch, let's look at metric first:
    gap is 0.100-0.300, the limit is 0.700. Problem?

    Now, let's look at the inch specs:
    gap is 0.004-0.012, the limit is 0.030. Problem?

    To me, .7mm is much larger than the .1-.3 spec.
    Also, the 0.030" limit appears to be a lot bigger than the 0.004-0.012" spec.

    I don't see any problem.
