I just measured my valve clearances for the first time on my GS650G. There was a lot more oil surrounding the camshaft than I expected - three of the valve's shims were completely submerged in oil. Is this normal, or do I maybe have a leak somewhere? I replaced the valve cover gasket while I was in there, if that helps.

There are not any drain holes, when the engine quits spinning the oil just sits there until you spill it on top of your engine and on your shirt sleeve. Its all good.Comment

you should be more worried if there was no oil up there at all !!!!!!1978 GS1085.
