The 83 crankshaft has a larger end (nicknamed the big end crank) and does not seem to have the problem of spinning the starter clutch/Rotor.
They also but some welds on the pins to help keep them from twisting. These cranks are recommended for motors stronger than stock or getting your crank sent out to be welded.1983 GS 1100E w/ 1230 kit, .340 lift Web Cams, Ape heavy duty valve springs, 83 1100 head with 1.5mm oversized SS intake valves, 1150 crank, Vance and Hines 1150 SuperHub, Star Racing high volume oil pump gears, 36mm carebs Dynojet stage 3 jet kit, Posplayr's SSPB, Progressive rear shocks and fork springs, Dyna 2000, Dynatek green coils and Vance & Hines 4-1 exhaust.

Keep in mind that you will need the big rotor to match your big end crank.Ed

Will do. I'am looking at an earlier crank on ebay and may stay w/ an earlier model. Budget and all that, trying to keep the entire rebuild to 500.00 or less. I've got all winter so I can pick & choose.
