What engine differences in G and E 1000's
I have a chance to pick up a 1000G "parts bike" and wonder if the motors are interchangeable (and how complicated) with the E model chain drives?82 gs1100e FAUX Skunk

Very little is interchangeable. Frame is completely different, bottom end is completely different Top end is different but can be used to up grade bigger intake ports & CV carbs

Hi,
The GS1000G and the '78 GS1000 are both 8 valve engines. You'll be able to swap the valve shims.
Other odd bits might be interchangeable; pegs, cables, speedometer drive assembly, bulbs, etc, but not the entire engine.
Thank you for your indulgence,
BassCliff
