nuetral switch problem
Busy putting my 80 1000G back together. Couldn't figure out why my gear light wasn't coming on. Took off my gear indicator and found out that the small 'pin' was too far in. In my attempt to get it out I off course crammed it in even further. I tried drilling it with no luck. I'm hoping the hive mind has some better ideas on how to get it out of there.Rob

I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.

Tried the magnet thing, it's in there way too tight. It will be a shame to finish the bike only to have the neutral light and gear indicators not work.Rob

Is there a spring behind it/ Does it pop out a little if you push it in? The spring could be binding the pin or there is gunk in there, penetrating fluid? Its a pointed pin so any turning motion will just make it turn too. Spray brake cleaner in there to remove any oil, let it dry well and try to glue something to it? or something sticky to grab it

All good suggestions guys but that little bugger is wedged good. There's now way of getting it out other than drilling or coming from behind and drifting it out and since that isn't an option I MacGyvered a new pin. I cut down a spring to size and made a new, shorter, pin. I put them on over top of the one in there and for the moment everything is working....go figure.Rob

I guess I was really lucky that both my pin and spring came out with a strong magnet. Hope it works good for you.
