GS 1000 clutch actuation mystery

I changed my clutch plates today on my GS 1000 ST hoping to understand why the clutch was eavier than on my two other GS 1000s
I carefully examined the old springs and noticed that the new springs had exactly the same wire diameter ( 2mm) and the same amount of coils
Having bolted everything back together no wonder the clutch was just as heavy as before
The laws of physics beeing the same for the two bikes, my attention went to the " arm release" part which is the lever that the cable attaches to.
The PN is 23271-45400.
Well believe it or not this arm measures 45 mm between pivot points compared to 50 mm on my other GS's including my 1100 Kat
No wonder this clutch feels heavier!
Did anyone notice this before?

never even thought about that but it would be a quick and easy mod for someone who has the shorter arm and wants a lighter clutch action.

well spotted...........

just looked up on the stock GS1000E and the part number is 23271-45400 for the arm. it supersedes part number 23271-49000, and the arm is exactly 49mm pivot to pivot
