I was riding home from work and the oil light went off. I stopped and checked the sight glass and didn't see any oil in it. Popped the oil cap off and saw some smoke-ish sort of stuff floating around. Any help would be great.

Changed the oil before I stored it this last winter. Have put about 500 miles on it. I actually don't remember checking the fill level before this season. I will add oil and watch the level. Stopping motor and looking at sight glass won't mean much- oil needs time to fall back to crankcase. Make sure you check on centerstand. If this problem came on suddenly, recheck everything asap.1981 gs650L

Even if it were a roller bearing engine, the roller bearings are only on the lower end. The cams still need that oil to "float" in their bearings.Originally posted by tom203 View Post
