        I went ahead and replaced all the steels and fibers and mission accomplished: no more slipping at high engine speed acceleration and no more clunky take off from stopped. So happy! Only thing is I didn't soak them overnight. Dang, I was reading the factory service manual and it didn't say to do that. I guess I could take them out and soak them if it really mattered.

            Phew. Thanks. Power train right now is solid. Next is front end rebuild. New sprocket and chain can wait until the fall.
