bummer that did not even come close to working let me redo that as a screen shot dang

the best new tool was the tyrap shim tool as suggested works Great!
have a new shim tool did not use it save 15 bucks and invest in 11" black tyraps for 2 bucks you get at least 10 tools

my engine is tight the only one i could measure was # 4 it was 0.0020 every thing else was tight on my 0.0015 feeler gauge

the shim range all over 265 - 283
    redoing my chart

You're killing me with those "screen shots"...

Order shims from Z1 Enterprises. Get enough smaller shims for your next couple valve adjustments. BTW, when you can't get a measurement there is a good chance you have to jump two sizes.

      To measure is to know.

Here is the factory service manual you can download.
Tappet adjustment starts on page 3-5 if you want to review it.
          (Double check your method).

thanks, that a nice and clean readible manual

followed basscliffs tutorial plus used the Tyrap tool which is awsome
my shims are just too tight expalins why my compression is low 90-100

looks like i can reuse some of the existing, too bad the only shims i have are installed on the engine so have to wait and repeat this next weekend

I do not know this for a fact, but I've read where you can substitute "quarters" in place of the valve shims, or those yellow "dollar" coins.
This, if it works would give you the chance to move around those existing shims to determine exactly how many and what thickness shims you need.

                    Notes
                    · Remove and separate all feeler gauges they tend to stick together. Easier to use one at a time then fanning them out.
                    · Apply oil to the feeler gauges goes a long way to accurate reading.
                    · Use a very bright lamp had a headband light worked great super bright Leds. also find a very long small needle nose pliers
                    · Best new time saving trick, Use the zip tie trick and save 15 bucks for 2 bucks you can get 10 tools to adjust your shims
                    · The zip tie method works 10 times Bette then the shim tool takes about 5 minutes to make the tool adjust and learn.
                    · Bookmark the Basscliff website site and spend time reading, such a wealth of information
                    · Love this GS resources website

I contest your adding oil to the feeler guage..oil actually takes up space and makes the feeler guages THICKER than what they are made to be. Use dry feelers and set the gaps.

Only oil you should needs is already on the shims and the lobes.

Should be using and recording info from METRIC feelers as well.

I'm surprised more people don't try just swapping shims at the dealer. My dealer had no problem with it. It's not like there's a huge market for them. I just hit 'em with the swap as I'm picking up or placing a large order.

Maybe its the "as I am placing an order " part that gets you thru. Have you tired just a straight sawp and not be buying anything???

Idk. I realize most dealers aren't gonna do it, but it's worth a shot. Asking at the service counter might pan out better, because the mechanic is the guy that's gonna have the used shims laying around. If I asked and they said no, I would certainly shop around. My local Suzuki/Honda dealer is really small and locally owned. Same owner for decades.

Back on 6/10, I sent you a copy of my valve adjust spreadsheet. Have you entered your clearances and shims into it yet?
That would have prevented the question in the first place, but your original post was a day before you got your spreadsheet.
