Brake lines. What length?
So I want to upgrade to stainless stel brake lines on my 80 GS1100E. I looked on Z1 but it seems to go by length. If I can avoid it I'd rather not pull my lines off just to measure then waste brake fluid putting them back on. Does anyone know what lengths I need for the fronts and rear?Tags: None

I'm sorry but you'll have to measure them. You'll get pretty close with them on the bike if you use a fabric tape measure, like the sewing ones. I picked one up pretty cheap at my local Walmart even.Cowboy Up or Quit. - Run Free Lou and Rest in Peace

you dont need to pull your lines off to measure them. just use a piece of string and measure from the centre of one banjo bolt, run the string along the line,holding it close to follow the bends upto the centre of the other banjo bolt,
then measure the string1978 GS1085.
Just remember, an opinion without 3.14 is just an onion!

I was thinking about the string but just wondered if anyone knew the stock lengths. Thanks anyways guys!

String is a good idea.
I just used a tape measure and did the best I could real quick, then added 2-4inches.

Remember the banjo fittings each add 1.5" of length!
So take your measured banjo-to-banjo length, subtract 3, and that's the length of line you need.
The string method is perfect.

The 1100 E is a big fat pig.
I crashed last year because of soft, worn lines on my 1heavy 1100.....after a quick second of panic when the fronts were slipping, and a healthy dose of target fixation......Ka- Plowie!
