Also when doing the timing on it, it's the "t mark" next to the 1-4 and not the mark above the 1-4 correct? I attached a picture of the "t-mark"

Anyone wanna double check my work?
Alright so I did a valve job a month or so ago...wrong. Turns out my manual either told me how to do it wrong or I'm just really dense. Either way I missed a couple that needed to be adjusted and adjusted one or two that shouldn't have been. I'm riding a 1980 gs550 and I followed the guide on bikecliff's website. Just to double check, I do the exhaust cam first with #1 pointing towards the front tire and parallel with the engine head side. Then I check both #1 and #2 on the exhaust. Next I go to the intake and #1 should be pointed perpendicular to the head. I check #1 and #2 on the intake. On the other side it's the same but #4 is either parallel or perpendicular to the head instead of 1. If I'm doing anything wrong that would be great cause I don't wanna do this a third time, sorry for being so paranoid.

your pic shows TDC lined up with mark, so it's a good time to check camshafts to crank timing IF you want to.
EDit; don't forget the crank makes TWO revolutions for one camshaft revolution1981 gs650L

Edit: The camshafts are out which is why I need to do timing if you were wondering

TDC is for #1 cylinder (starting down on firing stroke -both valves closed) at same time #4 is about to do its intake thing; one crank revolution later, they are vice versa.1981 gs650L
