    Difference in 1100 heads?

Are the 80-83 GS1100 heads interchangeable? In other words, will other years 1100 heads fit on my 1980 motor?

The heads interchange. There may have been a valve cover bolt pattern change at some point though the years so you might need the matching cover as well as the head.

Nessism's right, the early heads have a 20 bolt cam cover and the later ones have 24 bolts. At the moment I can't remember when they switched to the later style. You don't have to count all the holes to id them. The later heads have two extra bolts at the extreme front and back of the cam chain tunnel where the early ones do not.
