    Engine swap

    Hi all.
I am keeping a lookout for a spare engine for my bike and have not found one so far in the last month.
So I have been trying to find out what engine will fit in what frame. I have a GS650GTX (1981 UK shaft driven).
As far as I can find out a 850 & 1000 lumps are interchangeable but what about 650's. Does a 550 fit? Can a 650 with a chain final drive be used or is a major job to fit the prop etc..

    Regards

Sorry, but due to the unique size and configuration of the 650, you are somewhat restricted to finding another 650.

Fortunately, any year will work. Not sure what you had over there, but here, the 650 was available from '81 through '83.

Are you having a problem with your current engine or are you just sourcing a spare before you actually need one?

These engines are relatively bullet-proof, so "needing" a spare would be largely unnecessary.
